I am a self-taught fiber artist specializing in quilting.  I originally began working with fabrics on traditional quilts, which I still love, but I, more recently, have been exploring non-traditional designs using traditional stitches and methods.  For items on this blog, usually, piecing and binding are done with a machine, but all quilting, embroidery, and embellishments are hand sewn. I like to hand sew mostly because I like the sound of the thread pulling through the fabric, and I like the repetitive motion. Too, I love the feel of the fabric in my hands and the ease of manipulating my materials.  My sewing machine(s), though, are favorite tools, outside of my stitch ripper, which I have found invaluable!

I also own my own quilting company, through which I make T-shirt, memory and custom quilts.  You can see examples of that work and the information about the company here:  finishedfibers.com
